Hubbell Reimagines the Ideal Shore Power Connection

May 2021 News

Anyone who has plugged in a shore power cable knows three hands are often needed to complete the task, especially in twilight conditions. To facilitate simpler connections, Hubbell Marine has enhanced its 30A and 50A Twist-Lock® stainless steel inlets and cable sets.

Wider stainless steel locking rings on Hubbell 30 and 50 amp cable sets enable a firm grip and facilitate faster watertight connections. On its stainless steel inlets, Hubbell increased the cap's circumference and depth, plus added more pronounced ridges on the locking ring.

Knowing that it often takes finger acrobatics to hold up an inlet cover while plugging in, Hubbell engineered a friction-tight hinge. It supports the weight when open, yet is self-closing with a neoprene gasket to protect the pins when not in use. More deeply recessed threads on the stainless steel inlets further simplify connections and create a watertight seal.

The new Hubbell cable sets and inlets retain their original model numbers and are backwards compatible for either end of the connection. All are Marine UL and cUL Listed. Hubbell offers its 30 and 50 amp cable sets in 25' to 50' lengths in yellow or white. Its companion stainless steel inlets include 30 and 50 amp 125V models as well as a 50 amp 125/250V version. Prices start at $151.40 for a 30 amp cable set and $72.40 for an inlet.
