How would you like to spend the night on a river—without a boat?

According to the Apalachicola Times, 42-year old Billy Randall Pullam had just this experience. When someone called in the news of a partially submerged truck at the boat ramp on Bloody Bluff Road in Florida late Friday afternoon, the police department determined that the truck belonged to Pullman. After speaking with Pullman’s mother, the Liberty County Sherriff’s Office learned that he hadn’t been seen since 5:30 that morning. Searching until darkness fell yielded no results, so the two departments resumed Saturday morning with officers from the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission. Come late Saturday afternoon, the sheriff’s office received a report from Jimmy Allen about a man he had spotted floating on a log on the river north of the city. By 5 that night, they found Pullam sheltering on a dilapidated houseboat on the riverbank. Though soaked, thirsty, hungry, and having traveled around 20 miles down the river, Sheriff A.J. Smith said Pullam was unharmed.
