Tammy Dunn and her husband bought their 2018 20- by 90-foot Sunstar Houseboat in June, and they couldn’t be more pleased. The couple live in Indianapolis, Ind., and they keep their new boat on Dale Hollow Lake in Kentucky.
The Dunns have 30 years of experience when it comes to houseboating and one of the main reasons they decided to go with Sunstar was because of the spaciousness of their houseboats. For example, many houseboats have rather narrow staircases that can make it challenging when going up and down.
Tammy recalled carrying platters of food up the stairs and having to keep her elbows right in front of her body since there wasn’t enough space. However, with their new Sunstar Houseboat, the stairs are wide and comfortable, and the Dunns’ guests frequently comment on them.
“You literally float down them,” described Tammy. “It’s no effort getting up and down.”
There’s also plenty of space in the bedrooms and the living area, which wasn’t the case before with their previous houseboat. It makes it the perfect place for their three kids and three grandkids to come visit.
What’s more, Sunstar Houseboats continues to impress the Dunns with their service. On the morning of Independence Day, the Dunns ran into an issue so they texted Sunstar and within three hours someone was there to help them. The Dunns were pleasantly surprised and very happy.
“The continued level of their service is mind-blowing,” confided Tammy.

Looking to 2019
According to the manufacturer, 2019 will be an even better year than 2018. It’s been ten years now since the houseboat industry was hit by the recession and it was a struggle to stay afloat for those years. However, with some innovative thinking, Sunstar managed to keep going, and now they are looking forward to a great year in 2019.
