You might have noticed pictures and videos of the UFO, a circular sustainable houseboat concept created by Italian automotive and yacht designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini and the team at futuristic Italian yacht designers Jet Capsule. Now you can meet the UFO 2.0, a revamped model with a larger 65-foot diameter footprint, three levels, a submerged bedroom, and twin 80 hp engines that can propel over double the old design at 10 mph. Able to hold up to 100 people, Lazzarini shares in the video below that the UFO 2.0 “can be used for several purposes including hotel reception, gym, or a floating restaurant.”
The designer adds, “Inside the disk, we have a lot of storage space. It is possible to set up sixteen batteries which with solar panels and wind/water turbine will provide an unlimited autonomy to the floating UFO 2.0.”
According to Fururism.com, the only hang-up is funding—but if Jet Capsule is able to raise enough with its Kickstarter campaign, they predict the first UFOs will be taking off come 2018. So keep your eyes on the skies—or rather, the seas.
