If you drive into the hills of southern Indiana and head to the west side of the Hoosier National forest, you’ll find yourself at Patoka Lake—a clear, quiet body of water cupped by over 25,000 acres of gorgeous green trees. Keep driving to that peaceful cove on the west end of the lake and you’ll arrive at Hoosier Hills Marina, run by Jeff and Shellie Dukes and their staff.
In addition to slips and mooring for 200 boats, this full-service marina rents out a feet of houseboats and fishing boats for taking advantage of the lake’s great catches. The rentals range from their 16- by 72-foot houseboats to 15- by-58-foot houseboats for a variety of sizes and layouts to fit a visiting family’s needs. The 72-foot models comfortably sleep 14 with six private bedrooms, a sleeper sofa, and two full-sized baths. The galley is comfortably roomy and the homey atmosphere naturally invites relaxation onboard. A full set of lawn furniture and a gas grill, waterslide, and party top fill out the top deck.
The Dukes decided to buy the marina after spending five years houseboating across Patoka Lake. They enjoyed it so much that they now make it their business to ensure their guests have a glowing experience as well. You can check out more details at www.hoosierhillsmarina.com.
