New Zealand photographer Fiona Clark is gearing up for a two month artist residency on a California houseboat rich with a history of being a retreat to artists of the past.
"I'm hoping the harbour will be calm," Clark reported, according to www.Stuff.co.nz. "It will be an interesting environment, that's for sure."
The Varda Artists Residency (VAR) provides select artists with a San Francisco Bay retreat to a lovely renovated houseboat with over 136 years to its name. The ferry of a past life has already hosted artists like Allen Ginsberg and Ruth Asawa.
Clark’s photography focuses on biographical elements as she works to photograph and document communities and individuals.
"People fascinate me. Every day life is inspiring and I am inspired by being alive,” she said.
Staying onboard a houseboat is definitely a good way to do just that.
