The History Behind Destination Yachts

June 2016 Feature

This longstanding Indiana houseboat manufacturer brings the tradition of old style Amish craftsmanship to each model it builds. Destination Yachts has a deep history that started when owner Sheldon Graber and his brother Terry started Myacht, which was eventually bought by Tracker Marine. After selling, Graber felt the industry needed a twin hull houseboat that embraced a luxury-edged level of quality. Thus Destination Yachts found its beginnings in 1998 and has expanded ever since.

With a desire to keep these beautiful builds affordable for anyone who aspired to be a houseboater, the brothers made sure to incorporate elegant finishes that were still economical. With customization of builds from 37 to 100 feet long, customers can pursue exactly what they’re looking for in a houseboat.

In 2014, the manufacturer moved to a new facility in Washington, Ind., to be able to keep up with demands for their customers and to keep the prices lower. Their commitment has paid off as they continue to build boats for lakes all over America. Destination Yachts has recently expanded into opening their luxury Elite Series, as well as starting a line of high-end deck boats with Rotocast seating, dynamic sound systems, and lowered rear swim platforms. They also started refocusing on price point boats starting at $95,000 in 2014.
