This Indiana houseboat manufacturer has long ties to the houseboating industry. Destination Yachts was launched in 1998 but before that, owner Sheldon Graber partnered with his brother to start Myacht--which was eventually bought out by Tracker Marine. After selling, Graber felt the need for a houseboat that was built on a twin hull, but had a higher level of quality and design than similar models available. Along with his brother Delmer, they aimed to keep Destination Yachts affordable for the everyday person. This commitment has paid off and the company builds boats for lakes all over America with Amish handiwork incorporated in each boat built.
Destination Yachts is committed to being a full-line manufacturing company by keeping its designs based on price-point boats. But its repeat customers have a way to step up into a higher-end product with its new Elite Series, which has recently hit the production line. Destination Yachts has also started building a line of high-end deck boats with a lowered rear swim platform, Rotocast seating, high-end sound systems and plenty of room for all your friends.
As a recap for 2014, Destination Yachts has moved into its new facility in Washington, Ind. This facility allows for additional and more efficient production. Destination Yachts also dropped the direction of using dealers for the western market. The manufacturer found that it was distancing the customer from the builder and this lead to higher pricing structures. This change back to dealing directly with the builder allows Destination Yachts to be closer to the customers and keeps the pricing more competitive.
