Westerbeke Corporation is proud to introduce the 6.5 EDT D-NET electronic diesel generator set. Rated 6.5kW at 60Hz, the 6.5 EDT is engineered to outperform the competitions. The unit is powered by a compact, .95 liter, three-cylinder at a low 1800-rpm for smooth, quiet operation. The 6.5 EDT offers a 50 amp battery charging alternator and instead of the capacitor regulation as many smaller generator sets, the 6.5 EDT offers strandard transformer regulation eliminating issues some capacitor regulated products may have operating digital equipment. Standard electron governing virtually eliminates droop when load is applied or removed. Running at a slow 1800-prm tuned air intake silencer, it runs quiet as whispered conversation. It is also designed to meet all EPA emissions requirements and is easily field convertible to 5.0kW, 50 Hz.  

The 6.5 EDT featured digital controls, offering simplified and easy to understand information on operational status and if necessary system diagnostics. The splash proof display also provides at a glance illuminated lights indicating proper operation that can be viewed from a distance. Other standard features include over speed, under speed, low oil pressure, high exhaust and high coolant temperature safety shutdowns as well as a standard AC circuit breaker. This generator also offers single side servicing and an optional sound guard SST with stainless steel base and frame providing Westerbeke’s famed full access to all sides and top of the unit.

The 6.5 EDT is also available with optional NMEA 2000 compliant database communication. NMEA 2000 is a network for shipboard communications developed under National Marine Electronic Association standards. NMEA 2000 generators, combined with other certified components, allow boat builders and their customers to significantly reduce the cost, weight and apace normally required to run cables throughout the vessel. All NMEA 2000 components freely communicate and are linked to just one NMEA 2000 cable simplifying networking.
