Westerbeke Corporation, well-known for its small, quiet, Innovation Award Winning 3.0 BPMG and low-CO gasoline generators has expanded its new “multiport,” low-CO range from 3.5 to 6.5kW.
Westerbeke was the first to offer low-CO marine gasoline generator sets. Two new models now offered are the 5.0 and 6.5 MCG at 60Hz (4.2 and 5.2 MCG at 50Hz).
The new MCG models feature sequential multiport electronic fuel injection (MPI). MPI provides optimum fuel efficiency, easy starting, improved reliability and reduced emissions. In conjunction with MPI, electronic speed control maintains the engine at a constant speed (precise frequency regulation) and virtually eliminates “bogging down” when load is applied. A water-cooled returnless fuel system aids in the prevention of vapor lock for improved performance at high ambient temperatures.
The MCG models feature a three-cylinder, heavy-duty, industrial base engine with a balance shaft that virtually eliminates vibration. Combined with a lower operating speed of 1800 or 1500 rpm, these features contribute to a longer-lasting, more reliable product.
Safety warnings and shut-downs include overspeed, underspeed, low oil pressure, high exhaust temperature and more. Some options include remote start-stop and lube oil filter, spare parts kits, ship-shore switch and an auxiliary adapter to draw DC power from the generator set. (www.westerbeke.com)
