What kind of boat do you currently own?
My current houseboat is a 2004 84-foot Sharpe. The boat has an open salon/galley layout that works well for entertaining. We are not “dock sitters,” so the boat is constantly out on the lake for weekends and longer periods. The single most crucial “must have” item is our watermaker from Eagle Marine Enterprises, a system I personally developed 13 years ago. The watermaker produces 10,000+ gallons/day of fresh clean water and truly gives us long-term independence from the marina. I also reengineered the AC inverter system, upgrading to a 24-volt 4000w package with a 12 battery bank, which also increases our freedom and limits generator run time.

There’ve been so many memories it’s difficult to narrow it down. I’d say our annual Columbus Day gatherings (2013 will be our eighth) has to rank among my favorites. I’d say they all involve family and friends.
What is your favorite meal to cook while houseboating?
Give me any piece of raw meat and my Big Green Egg grill/smoker, and then stand back!
Whom do you houseboat with?
I houseboat with anyone willing to go! My wife, Joy, son Kyle and our rescued black pug, George, can always be found aboard.

I am on the forum and go by DrNautica. I am largely inactive over the past several years due to time constraints of work, but do enjoy reading on occasion to keep up with the latest.
