KAMLOOPS, B.C. - Police found 27 empty beer and cooler cans in a ski boat that crashed into a houseboat on Shuswap Lake last month, killing one man.
The discovery is included in the information filed with the court to allow the RCMP to get a warrant to seize the ski-boat driver's blood samples.
Driver Leon Reinbrecht was taken to hospital after the July 3rd crash and police say in the court documents they expect the blood samples will show he was drinking at the time of the crash.
Kenneth Brown was driving the houseboat and was killed.
The documents say officers also found a small baggie of marijuana near the ski boat, which was covered in bloody fingerprints.
The documents say an officer noted a strong odour of liquor on the man's breath when they spoke to him at the hospital, but Reinbrecht said he had a beer while he was trapped in the boat after the crash.
None of the allegations in the documents have been proven in court and Reinbrecht has not been charged.
