Approximately $3,000 was raised at the Marine Industries Association of South Florida's 16th annual golf tournament to benefit the MIASF Education Fund, which helps marine education programs in the region.
The tournament was held Sept. 18 at the Jacaranda Golf Club's West Course and approximately 144 golfers attended. Box lunches were prepared and provided by the students at South Broward High School's marine magnet program.
"A full course of golfers was a fabulous response, particularly in a down economy," MIASF public relations and events coordinator Melanie Daily said in a statement. "It really shows that people are eager for networking and creative advertising opportunities to help get back into the swing of things, and we are happy we can offer these opportunities as a membership benefit."
