Let The Hunt Begin!

April 2017 Web Exclusive

Easter is drawing nearer, and if your family loves celebrating with egg hunts and festive food, there are plenty of community events going on that you can join! If you live near any of these houseboating hotspots, mark the date on your calendar and venture ashore for the day, because there are few ways more entertaining to kick off Easter with your kids than with a good old-fashioned egg hunt.

Lake of the Ozarks

For any houseboaters who call the Lake of the Ozarks home, feel welcome to join the 3rd Annual Osage Beach Easter Egg Hunt on Saturday April 15th. The local 4H Club is providing animal displays and there will also be face painting, a balloon artist, a bouncy house and a hot dog lunch! Bags are provided for the main event, the egg hunt. Times are split up according to age group and the first hunt starts at 11 am.

Dale Hollow

Dale Hollow is hosting a big Easter Day Egg Hunt on April 16th at the Dale Hollow Lake State Resort Park in Burkesville, Ky. There will be over 3,000 eggs hidden in the park for kids up to 12 years old to find, starting at 1 pm. There’s also an Annual Easter Buffett going on from 11am to 8 pm. Tickets are $19.50 for adults and $9.50 for children 12 and under (not including tax). The buffet includes a beverage, beef carved on the line, golden fried catfish and hushpuppies, a cheese bar, garden vegetables, desserts, and more. You can call 270-433-7431 or visit here for more info!

Lake Cumberland

Lake Cumberland State Resort Park in Jamestown, Ky., is also hosting an Annual Easter Buffett on April 16th from 11am to 5pm. Tickets and menu items are the same as the Dale Hollow Buffett. There will also be free mini golf and an egg hunt at 11 am the day before—kids who participate get a meal voucher good with the purchase of an adult meal at the Lure Lodge Rowena Landing Restaurant. Don’t let the kids have all the fun—join in the egg hunt especially for adults! For more information, call 270-343-3111or visit www.parks.ky.gov/easter.

Smith Mountain Lake

The 19th annual Easter Egg Hunt for Smith Mountain Lake-goers is taking place at 2pm on April 15th at Waid Park. It’s a few minutes from the lake, but worth the drive. The hunt is free for all ages and there will be over 15,000 eggs to find! Bring your camera to take pictures with the Easter bunny and enjoy food, door prizes, and inflatables. Just try to get there by 1:30pm to register and claim a parking space, cause this is a popular event.
